About Alvadette Stewart & Co
Many people have asked where the name Alvadette came from. The answer is deeply personal.
My late mother created the name Alvadette in remembrance of my sister, who was born one year before me and passed away as a baby. She lovingly combined three names to create one:
AL from Alice
VA from Valence
DETTE from Bernadette
To my knowledge, the name Alvadette exists in only one other place; that place is my mother’s home in White Rock, Grand Rivière, St. Lucia. She named it Alvadette House, and it became a lasting symbol of love, remembrance, family, and home.
When it came time to name my business, combining Alvadette with our family name, Stewart, felt like the natural choice.
Even the colors used in our branding were inspired by Alvadette House. The rich dark brown, gold, and yellow reflect the colors of the home and allow another meaningful part of its story to live on through the business.
Adding “& Co.” was also intentional. Although we provide bookkeeping and accounting services today, I did not want the name to define only what we do at this moment. I wanted it to represent something that could grow beyond me—a family legacy that my children and future generations could carry forward in whatever direction the future leads.
Many people suggested adding “Bookkeeping” to the business name, but I chose not to.
The business may provide bookkeeping and accounting services, but the name represents something much bigger.
It represents family.
It represents love and remembrance.
It represents legacy.
And it honors the remarkable woman who created a name that continues to live on in ways she may never have imagined.
