Accounts Receivable: Sales Don't Pay the Bills Until You're Paid
Making a sale is an exciting part of running a business. But a sale alone doesn't pay the bills.
If you've invoiced a customer but haven't been paid, that money is recorded as Accounts Receivable on your Balance Sheet. Until payment is received, it isn't cash your business can use.
That's why timely billing and keeping a close eye on outstanding invoices are so important.
The longer an invoice remains unpaid, the more it can affect your cash flow and your ability to cover everyday business expenses.
Reviewing your Accounts Receivable aging report regularly helps you:
✔️ Know who owes you money.
✔️ Follow up on overdue invoices.
✔️ Improve your cash flow.
✔️ Make better financial decisions.
Sales are important, but collecting those payments is what keeps your business moving forward.
Question for business owners:
Do you have a routine for reviewing unpaid customer invoices, or do you usually wait until a payment becomes overdue?
I'd enjoy hearing how you manage your receivables.
